Workin' with what you've got!

I’m Lisa,  a 37-year-old mother of two boys, Yves (27 months) and Remy (13 months). My partner Daniel is 30 (yep, cougar) and together we live happily in Melbourne, Australia. I studied Creative Writing and English Literature at University of Melbourne, and though I finished my degree in 2011, this is my first foray into online writing to date. So, please be gentle!

What or who will you read about in this blog? Mostly Remy, who was recently born prematurely with an imperforate anus and a diagnosis of Down Syndrome. I don’t profess to be an instant authority on DS, as this is all new to us, but I aim to learn as much as I can, and share what we encounter along the way.

I’ll probably throw in some pics and comments on other stuff too, like interior design ideas, op-shop bargains, pictures of my late great dogs, and some day-to-day stories about our family life (nothing too tedious, I’m sure you don’t care what I had for dinner!). Some of this may seem irrelevant in the face of the serious issues Remy faces, but bear in mind that life must go on, and my attitude is that, as long as we balance our trivial interests with doing some good for the community, whilst taking great care of our friends and family, then a little infatuation with frivolity is perfectly ok!
